Corona Virus pandemic followed by countrywide lockdown has prompted the government to shut down theatres indefinitely. Cases are surging everywhere it seems impossible for the government to open the theatres soon. One of the biggest gainers during this lockdown is online streaming platforms. Even before the lockdown, the rise of OTT platforms are steady and now with theatres closed the subscriber list has increased a lot these days. Many Bollywood producers have opted for OTT release due to the unavailability of theatres.
The trend has slowly started flooding across the south and even many movies are released in Tamil and Kannada in various OTT Platforms. Even in Tollywood Nani’s V and Suriya’s Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa will be releasing on OTT Platforms. When asked about the steady increase in films opting out for OTT he replied that OTT has got a bright future and it has opened yet another opportunity for the producer to sell his product. At the same time, theatres are irreplaceable and once the people come out of the people of coronavirus they will start coming into theatres.
